Retro Record Player

I built this using my old 80s record player. I had been wanting one of those really cool simple retro style record players for a while, but I could never justify spending $1000 or more on one. The basic components of my old record player were actually pretty cool so I though I’d give making my own a go.

It meant I had to do a few things I hadn’t done for 15 years or so like cutting out a new top with a jigsaw and soldering wires back together, those very tiny old wires are an absolute bastard, by the way.

The record player mechanism was a lot higher that the timber I used as the spacer, but I didn’t want to use wider timber so I had to carve out the top of the drawer frame using a really big spade bit and a drill.
